After machining, many metal components still require finishing services to modify the surface of the piece based on specific application requirements. Metal finishing and surface treatment services alter the finish and surface of an object to improve its appearance and enhance properties such as chemical, wear, and corrosion resistance.
Jiesheng Hardware can assist in part finishing. Through our trusted partners we can facilitate plating (anodizing, powder-coating, etc.) and heat treatment along with a variety of other processes to complete your parts depending upon your needs.
We provide several types of surface finishes to fit your needs.
Anodizing
Anodizing is a surface treatment process that uses electrochemistry to form a layer of Al2O3 (aluminum oxide) film on the surface of aluminum and aluminum alloy. Through anodic oxidation, the surface state and performance of the material can be changed, thus improving corrosion resistance, enhancing wear resistance and hardness, and protecting the metal surface.
As Machined
As machined parts—or parts that come right off the machine—have minor visible tool marks and a standard surface roughness (Ra) is 3.2 μm. Surface finish requirements can be increased to 1.6, 0.8 and 0.4 μm.
Bead Blasting
Bead blasted parts have a matte finish with a light texture. It’s mainly used to improve a part’s visual appearance.
Black Oxide
Applicable on steels, black oxide is a conversion coating used to improve corrosion resistance and minimize light reflection.
Brushing
Brushing is produced by polishing the metal with grit resulting in a unidirectional satin finish. Not advisable for applications where corrosion resistance is required.
Heat Treating
Heat treating allows a metal piece to be improved in order for the material to better withstand wear and tear. Heat treatment involves heating a metal or alloy to a specific temperature and then cooling it to harden the material.
Painting
Painting involves spraying a layer of paint onto the surface of the part. Colors can be matched to a Pantone color number of the customer’s choosing, while finishes range from matte to gloss to metallic.
Plating
Plating is the perfect way to improve the look of the products you produce, while also inhibiting corrosion, reducing friction, shielding them from interference and more.
Polishing
Parts are manually polished in multiple directions. Surface is smooth and slightly reflective.
Powder Coating
Powder coating adds a wear- and corrosion-resistant finish to the surface of the parts. It has higher impact resistance compared to anodizing, comes with a large range of colors, and can be applied to any metal.
